- attended Old Forge HS in PA (Graduated in 1971)
- received BME degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1975
- received MA degree in music education from Marywood College (now Marywood University) in 1983
- earned additional graduate credits through Marshall University

Teaching Experience:
- began teaching in April 1976 at Matewan High School
- has been teaching in Matewan for almost 31 years
- has taught grades 5 through 12
- occasional adjunct faculty member for SWVCTC Musical Training/experiences:
- began piano lessons in grade 2 or 3 continuing through grade 9
- began study of horn (French Horn) in 4th grade, but that was put on hold when the family moved to another town after 5th grade
- played bass drum then returned to horn in high school marching and concert bands
- continued with horn through undergraduate and graduate studies, presenting recitals at the conclusion of each level
- participated in college marching band, concert band, several ensembles, jazz band, and orchestra (occasionally filling in on string bass)
- toured with the WVWC Jazz ensemble around the eastern USA, and to Romania and Poland
- performed with community bands, solo performances, choral groups, and church choirs
- currently serves as pianist, adult choir director, and chime choir director at Matewan United Methodist Church
Family Information:
- married 30 years (in April 2007)
- three children, all girls, all graduated from Matewan High School. One currently is teaching in elementary schools in Mercer County; the other two are
attending Concord University, one majoring in English Education, the other in Music Education.
Other Interests:
family activities, church work, woodworking, camping and other outdoor activities, tennis and table tennis (ping pong) and other recreational sports
